Bank mitra Bharati Singh reinstated nearly 25 days after being vocal against Odisha Govt

Bhubaneswar: The much-debated bank mitra Bharati Singh was reinstated today by the Department concerned after nearly 25 days of her suspension for allegedly criticising the State government.

Bharati is also a member of the Self-help Group (SHG) from Khunta block of Mayurbhanj district. She had apologised on October 6 for the supposed wrongdoing. “Whatever I said during a rally in Bhubaneswar on September 11 was in reply to the questions asked by media,” the woman previously stated.

I am neither involved in politics nor belong to any political party. I am a bank mitra and belong to a tribal family. It is because of the Chief Minister that I got the bank mitra job through SHG. I beg apology for speaking against the Government and hope that the CM will give me justice,” Bharati had said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Bharati was placed under suspension on the charge of dereliction of duty on September 15 for next three months, after her statements went viral on social media.

Bharati was earlier awarded at block and district levels for her good performance as a bank mitra.

Several political leaders and social activists had raised their voices speaking for the tribal woman.
