Banks closed for a week in this Odisha district

Phulbani: All banks in Odisha’s Kandhamal have been closed for one week after many bank staffers in the district tested positive for COVID-19, an official order of the District Collector said.

The decision has been taken to prevent further spread of COVID-19 in the district. During the closure period, proper sanitization and disinfection of all bank office premises and chambers will be carried out.

The bank employees will remain in home isolation/home quarantine during the period. If any employee develops symptoms he/she should immediately report to CDM & PHO, Kandhamal and District Administration. Swab samples of all symptomatic employees will be collected for COVID-19 test, the order said.

Branch managers of the concerned banks have been instructed to ensure adequate feeding of cash in all ATM counters to meet the requirements of customers.

After one week, the banks will function with 50% staff strictly adhering to COVID-19 guidelines, the order added.
