Bank’s security manager in CBI net for graft

A security manager of a nationalised bank was arrested by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths while accepting bribe in Odisha capital yesterday.

The security manager of Union Bank was arrested while taking a bribe of Rs 40,000 at his residence here.

The accused Subrat Kumar Mishra is posted as security manager at the regional headquarters of Union Bank near CRPF square in the city.

He was forwarded to a local court yesterday. Besides, the sleuths began inquiry into the incident and searched his house behind Nuapalli LIC colony and ancestral house.

According to CBI sources, ‘Top Guard’ security provides security to all Odisha ATMs of Union Bank. The security had a payment due of Rs 5 lakhs with the bank.

Subrat Kumar Mishra had allegedly asked an official of the security agency– Praveen Kumar Tripathy– for a bribe of Rs 40,000 to get the bill passed.

Following this, Tripathy lodged a complaint with CBI office here and the anti-corruption unit officials laid a trap. He was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe at his home. Since, there was a bank strike yesterday, Mishra had asked Tripathy to give the money at his residence.
