Barking Deer killed, One arrested in Odisha’s Keonjhar dist

Keonjhar, Feb 23:
Odisha forest officials today arrested a person in connection with killing a barking deer in Keonjhar district.

The body of the barking deer has been seized.
The arrested was identified as Ranjan Behera of Jata village under Telkoi block in the district.
According to reports, a barking deer strayed into Jata village this morning following which some villagers chased the animal and beat to death.
Acting on a tip-off, the district forest officials rushed to the spot and seized body of the strayed animal.
The barking deer had strayed into the village in search of food, said Ranger Ramesh Chandra Jena.
Weight of the dead animal was around 8 kg, he added.
