Barking deer rescued from bus in Odisha, three detained

Baripada, Dec 30: Forest department officials in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district today rescued a barking deer from a bus while the animal was being transported from Karanjia to Baripada.

Forest officials acting on a tip off rescued the barking deer from a Baripada bound bus which was coming from Karanjia. The animal which is suspected to have been captured from the forested area near Karanjia was being transported to be sold in the market.

The driver, conductor and helper of the bus have been detained, Forest officials said.

“We are investigating the matter and have detained the driver, conductor and helper of the bus”, said additional conservator of forest (ACF) Arun Patra.
