Bars, food joints sealed in Bhubaneswar due to Covid norm violation

Bhubaneswar: Based on allegations of non-adherence of Covid appropriate behavior, a joint team of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation and Commissionerate Police raided and sealed several restaurants and food joints across Bhubaneswar city.

BMC Additional Commissioner Laxmikant Sethi informed the joint team raided the Khao Gali (Food Street) behind Ram Mandir and Food Court in the Esplanade One Mall after finding people are not following Covid appropriate behavior. Both the Food Street and Food Court have been sealed till January 2, 2022, Sethi added.

DCP Security Nirmal Satapathy also directed people to wear masks and maintain social distance norms.
Besides, Embassy and Nop Toch bars in Patia were sealed for Covid violations.

Eateries and shops from Jagmara to new Airport Road, Siripur Market to Gopabandhu Chhak and new airport backside areas were closed due to inappropriate Covid-19 behaviour.

While issuing the guidelines for the month of January, the State government mentioned in case of violation of Covid-19 safety protocols, local authorities can take strict action including criminal action under relevant acts including Disaster Management Act, 2005.
