Bars in Odisha to go to polls on December 12

Cuttack: The Odisha State Bar Council today announced election of the affiliated bar associations in the State will be held on December 12, 2020 for the remaining period of the year 2020-21.

In a letter to the Election Officers of affiliated bar associations, the State Bar Council stated the polling will be done by Secret Ballot for posts at different bars from 8 AM to 4 PM.

Filling of nomination is from November 24, 2020 to November 25, 2020 whereas scrutiny of nomination papers is on November 26, 2020. List of valid candidates for different posts will be notified by the Election Officer on November 27, 2020.

The letter added withdrawal of candidature is November 28, 2020 (till up to 3 pm). The Election Officer will notify the final list of candidates contesting the election on November 28, 2020 (at 4 pm.)
Counting of votes and declaration of results will be done at 5 PM on December 12, 2020.

The Election Officer appointed by the General Body of respective bar associations for 2020-2021 election will continue to be the Election Officer and conduct the present election, the letter added.

The State Bar Council asked the Election Officers to take all necessary precautions and safety measures as well as guidelines issued by the Centre and the State Government in view of Covid-19.
