Bhubaneswar: While there has been a spike in number of COVID-19 positive cases, the Odisha government today deployed 130 doctors and five Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers to Ganjam district to assist the district administration in COVID management.

Official sources said 100 Ayush doctors will report to the CDMO, Berhampur, Ganjam district by July 16 whereas 30 doctors will be deployed in different departments at the District Headquarters Hospital, Ganjam. The order comes into force with immediate effect.

Also, the government deployed five senior OAS officers Saroj Kumar Rout, Abanikanta Sahoo, Jogendra Majhi, Jagdish Sarangi and Alok Kumar Dehury to work under Ganjam district administration for smooth management of COVID-19 related works until further orders.

A total 47 Odisha Revenue Service (ORS) officers and 33 laboratory technicians were also sent to the district to help in COVID management.

The Directorate of Health Services directed the CDMO, Puri to provide an Advance Life Support Ambulance with a driver to Ganjam district for COVID care management.

So far, a total of 4,335 persons in the district tested positive for COVID-19. While 44 died of the virus infection in the district, two COVID-19 patients died of diseases other than corona.
