BDA to raze 195 illegal buildings in Odisha capital

Odisha government has decided to demolish as many as 195 illegal apartments built in the capital city for violating norms, informed Housing and Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo in Assembly today.

In a written reply to a question by MLA Chandrasekhar Majhi, Housing and Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo said that it has come to the notice of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) that around 583 apartments and high rises have been constructed in the city in violation of the stipulated guidelines.

Cases have been registered against the violators as per section 91 (1) of Odisha Development Authorities Act, 1982 of which authorities have been directed to raze 195 buildings, he informed.

The development authority has approved building plans of a total of 1415 buildings in the municipal jurisdiction, he added.
