BDO misbehaves with women in Odisha, detained

Nuapada: Block Development Officer (BDO) of Komna in Odisha’s Nuapada district, Shyamal Ray was today detained by police for allegedly misbehaving with two women yesterday.

As per a police complaint lodged by a relative of the two women, they were having dinner with their husbands at a hotel around 11 pm, during which the BDO, who was present at the spot with his friends, passed lewd remarks at the duo and scolded the two.

A verbal duel soon ensued between the husbands of the women and the official. On the basis of the complaint, police registered a case and detained the BDO for questioning.

On the other hand, Ray has refuted the allegations levelled against him. Kin of the women reportedly manhandled the BDO today while he was heading towards the police station.
