Beat lockdown blues with delicious Odia delicacies through contactless delivery

Bhubaneswar: Amid COVID-19 lockdown, here’s good news for bored netizens in urban areas as Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) will bring your favourite Odia delicacies to doorstep.

As all the eateries, hotels, restaurants are closed due to COVID-19 pandemic, OTDC has introduced a system with a tagline “Your Choice from our Kitchen” to deliver food with an aim to ease boredom of people confined to their homes during lockdown.

On suggestion of Odisha Tourism Minister, OTDC has signed an MoU with Swiggy and Zomato, two popular online food ordering and delivery platform, througn which homemade food will reach people’s doorstep in one click.

The programme was launched by Tourism Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi, OTDC Chairperson Shreemayee Mishra in presence of senior officials of the state-run corporation on Friday.

In first phase, the OTDC online food service will be available in Bhubaneswar and three major towns — Cuttack, Puri and Rourkela — through Swiggy and Zomato.

OTDC is also planning to add varieties of Pithas (traditional sweet delicacies of Odisha) to its menu and deliver it online on the special occasion of Raja Celebrations in the areas under these four civic bodies.

The MoU will be inked soon for the online food delivery services in other Panthaniwas of the state, OTDC Chairperson said adding, “all types of veg and non-veg food items along with traditional Odia food prepared by OTDC maintaining the best hygiene will be served to city people through online order.”
