Police today rescued a young woman in a critical condition from a forest near Dhenkanal bypass road three days after she was allegedly raped by her lover and abandoned.
The young woman has alleged that she was raped and beaten before being abandoned in the forest by her lover three days back.
She said the accused, her lover had called her to come to the forest near Dhenkanal College bypass road on Monday evening, and after raping he had beaten her black and blue before deserting.
“He had called me there in the evening on Monday. He left after raping me. He is Sibasish Mohanty of Gondia,” said the victim to reporters at the district headquarters hospital here where she has been admitted and undergoing treatment.
“She is undergoing treatment at the Gynaecology Ward. Now she is stable but little weak. She has complained that she was subjected to the sexual assault on Monday,” said Dr. Jyoti Rout, a doctor at the district headquarters hospital.
The victim was discovered by locals in the forest today in a critical condition who informed the police.
Police on being informed rescued her from the forest and admitted her to the hospital.
“We received information that a girl was lying in a critical condition in the forest near Shiva temple. We immediately rushed to the spot and rescued her. We have admitted her to the hospital and she is under treatment,” said Dhiraj Lenka, investigating officer (IO) of Dhenkanal Town Police Station.
Meanwhile, Dhenkanal S P Basant Kumar Panigrahi has informed that the accused has been detained and the investigation is on.
