Beauty parlour owner, wife held in Odisha for blackmailing

Angul: The police arrested owner of a beauty parlour and his wife in Angul district on charges of blackmailing a businessman and son. The businessman from Angul town, Rajeev Agarwal and son Abhishek Agarwal filed a complaint on September 3 accusing the husband-wife duo of extorting money from them on basis of some videos.

In a counter complaint filed the same day, the beauty parlour owner’s wife accused the businessman’s son, Abhishek of raping her. Following this, the police arrested Abhishek and his father.

As per the complaint filed by the businessman and his son, in 2019, a person from Turanga area contacted Rajeev Agarwal to purchase 10 tractors. Subsequently, a familial relationship developed between the businessman and the person who proposed to buy tractors.

The businessman and his son visited the proposed tractor buyer’s house on different occasions since then. Meanwhile, the businessman’s son developed a sexual relationship with the wife of the proposed tractor buyer, who was also owner of a beauty parlour.

Abhishek also alleged the proposed buyer’s wife shot the intimate moments and demanded Rs 30 lakh from the complainant.

Rajeev then transferred Rs 1.29 lakh to the bank account of the woman’s bank account on Auagust 25. Later his son transferred Rs 10,000 to the woman’s account through PhonePe app.

As the woman demanded more money, Abhishek lodged a complaint at the Angul Police Station on September 3.

The police probed the matter and arrested the husband-wife duo and forwarded them to the court.

Based on the complaint filed by the woman, the police also arrested the businessman and his son and forwarded them to the court.
