BEO suspended over chicken curry lunch at school in Odisha

Sundargarh: Consuming chicken curry at a school in Odisha’s Sundargarh district with students, who were served rice and dal under the mid-day meal programme, proved costly for a Block Education Officer (BEO) as the official was suspended for his act.

BEO Binay Prakash Soy has been placed under suspension by Sundargarh Collector. “Binay Prakash Soy is hereby put under suspension with immediate effect pending finalization of disciplinary proceedings for such gross misconduct, dereliction of duties and inappropriate behaviour during delivery of public service,” an office order of the Collector said.

“The BEO during his visit to Tileimal Primary School on October 3 at about 1.00 PM took mid-day meal (MDM) with the headmaster along with the students and ate food items brought from outside which are not in the MDM menu,” the order read.
