Berhampur legislator shows true humane side

Berhampur: At a time when people shunned bodies of their near and dear ones fearing COVID-19, Berhampur MLA Bijay Kumar Panda came forward to perform the last rites of an elderly woman in the town.

Fearing the woman, identified as Saraswati Sahoo died of COVID-19, her family members did not visit her house at Petta Chhak in the town. However, after receiving information, the legislator on behalf of ‘Odisha Mo Paribar’ went to the woman’s house. He later performed the woman’s last rites with the help of some BJD members.

Following the incident, locals thanked the legislator. “Panda is such a noble man. Without any fear he came forward to perform the last rites of Saraswati,” a local said.
