Berhampur University women’s hostel building collapses

Berhampur: Girl students of Berhampur University here had a narrow escape today after a huge portion of a hostel building of the varsity collapsed.

A major mishap was averted as most of the students had gone to attend classes at the university when the incident took place at around 12 noon.

Sources said a total of 104 students are currently lodged at the hostel building that has 40 rooms. Nine rooms have reportedly been destroyed in the mishap today.

Soon after the incident, the hostel authorities shifted the students to Chilika hostel.
