Bhubaneswar: In a jolt to the BJP amid the twin polls in Odisha, former Satyabadi MLA Ramaranjan Baliarsingh today resigned from the primary membership of the saffron party.

He sent a resignation letter in this regard to State BJP President Manmohan Samal.

In the letter, Baliarsingh mentioned that the party has betrayed him and the people of Satyabadi assembly constituency during elections over the last few years, for which he decided to tender resignation from the primary membership of the BJP.

Baliarsingh was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from the constituency in 2004 as he had successfully contested the polls as an independent candidate.

He had later joined the BJD and quit the regional party in 2018. In the same year, he had joined the BJP.
