Bhadrak: A 12-hour bandh is being observed in Odisha's Bhadrak by the Bhadrak Nagarika Surakhya Mancha and Barapada Bikash Mancha today over the demand of arresting Bhandaripokhari MLA Prafulla Samal and his son Prayaskanti.

Employees of the Bhadrak Institute of Engineering and Technology (BIET) in Barapada also joined the bandh observance.

Buses remained off the roads in the area due to the bandh. Holding banners, the agitators blocked road at Banta Chhak, affecting vehicular movement.

They also demanded expulsion of the MLA's family members from the management of the educational institution.

The matter pertains to the alleged misappropriation of funds by the management of BIET. Prayaskanti is the ex-president of BIET. He is accused of embezzling the funds of BIET and buying lands worth crores of rupees in Bhubaneswar.
