Bhadrak-Nayagarh Town MEMU flagged off at Cuttack station

Cuttack: Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Minister of Railways, Communication and Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off of the inaugural run of Bhadrak-Nayagarh Town-Bhadrak MEMU at Cuttack Railway Station on the occasion of Sriram Navami today.

On the inaugural Day, the MEMU train left for Bhadrak. However, the regular service will commence on March 31.

Direct train link between Bhadrak and Nayagarh District connects five districts of Odisha via important towns like Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The new train will fulfill the aspirations of common people, Vaishnaw said.

“The people of Bhadrak and Nayagarh Districts were demanding for direct train link for last many years. It was earlier announced to provide a new train from Bhadrak towards Bhubaneswar during the foundation stone laying ceremony of Redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station a few months ago. With the flagging off of the Bhadrak-Nayagarh MEMU, The people’s aspiration has been fulfilled,” Vaishnaw added.

Cuttack Railway Station will be redeveloped as world-class station with an allocation of Rs 303 crore. This year, the Railways have constructed 400 Kms of rail line in Odisha. This is a record, said the Railway Minister.

The Railway Ministry under the leadership of Ashwini Vaishnaw is committed to fulfill the aspirations of the common people in Odisha, Pradhan said.

MLAs Md Moquim and Suraj Suryavanshi were also present on the occasion at the Cuttack Railway Station.

The two Union Ministers also released postal stamps on the legends of Odisha at Ravenshaw University in the Silver City here.
