‘Bharat Bandh’ tomorrow: Odisha govt asks Collectors to maintain law & order

Bhubaneswar: The state government has asked the district Collectors to take the necessary steps to maintain law and order during the Bharat Bandh called by the Rastriya Pachhua Barga Morcha on Tuesday.

Rastriya Pachhua Barga Morcha has proposed to observe Bharat Bandh on November 29 by staging dharna, demonstration and Rasta Roko across the state seeking caste-based Census and enumeration of other backward classes (OBC) people in India, and protection of Indian Constitution among other demands, read a letter from Home Department Special Secretary PC Pradhan to the district Collectors.

“You are requested to take all preventive measures to maintain law and order and to ensure the maintenance of essential services in the districts,” added the letter.

The Home department has also asked all Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Commissioners-cum-Secretaries and Special Secretaries to take necessary steps to ensure smooth working of government offices including Lok Seva Bhawan, Kharavel Bhawan and Rajiv Bhawan in the capital city.

The Home department has advised the officials and employees of various government offices to reach their workplaces by 9.30 am tomorrow in view of the country-wide strike by the outfit.

As per the Home Department advisory, the front gates of Lok Seva Bhawan would be closed at 10.15 am tomorrow and all the passage will be regulated through the rear gates.

The identity cards of Lok Seva Bhawan employees and passes of visitors will be thoroughly checked at the gates, said the advisory issued by Home Department Special Secretary Santosh Bala today.
