Bhubaneswar: BMC sanitary inspector dies in road mishap; staff protest

Bhubaneswar: The sanitary inspectors of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) staged protest in front of the office today after a staff died in a road mishap here in the city last night.

Placing the body of deceased person in front of the BMC Office, the sanitary inspectors protested demanding Rs 50 lakh compensation to family of the deceased and suspension of sanitary work carried out during night hours in the city.

According to reports, BMC sanitary inspector Hritik Roshan, who was on a night duty yesterday, died after a car hit his motorcycle on flyover at Rajmahal Square at around 1 am.

Source said that the on-duty official was monitoring the sanitary work at night when the car ran over the biker.

The irate locals caught the car driver, who was in an inebriated condition, and assaulted him. Later, they set the car on fire.
