Bhubaneswar: Odisha Capital registered its lowest day temperature at 19.2 Degrees Celsius today. This is an all time record of drop in the Maximum temperature in the month of March since 1952.
The previous lowest of 24.3°C was recorded on March 2, 1970, an India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre source said.
Similarly, the lowest day temperature in the month of March was earlier recorded in 1990 (March 4) (25.2°C), followed by 2008 (March 24) (25.7°C), 1990 (March 5) (27.1°C), 1998 (March 30) (27.4°C), 2017 (March 9) (27.5°C), 2017 (March 8) (27.7°C), 2016 (March 11) (27.8°C), and 2005 (March 12) (28.1°C).
In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD stated, “Maximum temperatures observed marked fall at many places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, at a few places over the districts of South Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of North Interior Odisha, appreciable fall at many places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha and North Interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Interior Odisha and North Coastal Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were markedly below normal at most places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, appreciably below normal at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, below normal at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”
Temperature forecast: No large change in the Maximum (day) temperature during the next 24 hours and rise by 8°C to 10°C at most places over the districts of Odisha. No large change in the Minimum (night) temperature during next 24 hours and rise by 3°C to 5°C in subsequent four to five days at most places over the districts of Odisha.
