Bhubaneswar Fashion & Lifestyle Mela: Handloom wear showcased on Day 4

Bhubaneswar: The fourth day of the Fashion & Lifestyle Mela being held at the Paltronics Ground in Patia here witnessed showcasing of handloom wear, which was praised and liked by the audience.

Skilled Design Studio Designer D. Shivshree, Shipra Gupta of Evolve, Shaswati Mahapatra of Odissi Handloom, Soumya of Bivavari and Susma Epari of Jyotsna Jewellery showcased their latest designs and handloom wear.

Designer Sukri Gupta’s collection for mothers and children attracted the audience. The collection brought smiles to the families who attended the event.

INIFD at the mela presented their clothes with their students. All the fashion show designs saw innovation, diversity in use and integration of traditional handlooms with modern accessories.

On this occasion, various renowned designers shared their design experiences and views on the future of the designer ecosystem in Odisha. Mission Shakti entrepreneurs were also awarded at the event.

On Day 4 of the mela, which has been organised in collaboration with Indian Chamber of Commerce and Women Entrepreneur Council (INWEC), Evos Buildcon Chairman K.K. Rath and Brahmanand Meher, Managing Director of Arundhati Jewellers, shared their views on handicrafts in Odisha. They also highlighted various initiatives supported by their organization in Odisha where weavers and traditional artisans are creating valuable products for their companies with the help of their designers. The session was moderated by Prasanna Patti, member of INWEC.

Students from more than 9 schools participated and performed in the inter-school dance competition. The winners felicitated by INWEC Convener Sukirti Patnaik, Co-Convener Tanya Patnaik and Evos Chairman K.K. Rath.

Sukirti Patnaik thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for changing the lives of many women entrepreneurs at the grassroots level. She also emphasized on the need for change in handloom lifestyle products. She said that this mela will show the way forward to the designers.

Tanaya Patnaik agreed with Sukirti and said that in this globalized world, modernization of our tradition is the only way, where the value proposition of our products is unique.
