Bhubaneswar filling station blast: DNA report confirms identity of deceased

Bhubaneswar:  Over 20 days after a massive fire broke out at a petrol pump near Raj Bhawan here, the identity of a deceased whose flesh pieces were collected from the site was ascertained today .

As per the DNA report, which arrived today, the deceased has been identified as Seemanchal Parida of Ganjam . He had been missing ever since the mishap.

To establish the identity, police had sent the  flesh pieces along with the samples collected from Seemanchal Parida’s family members to the forensic lab at Capital Hospital here. And the DNA, report of which was collected today, has matched. 

Family members of the deceased has been informed about this. The IOCL authorities have also been intimidated about the DNA reports and requested to provide compensation to the kin of the deceased, said CP Sudhanshu Sarangi at a press meet here today.

With this the number of casualties in the petrol pump blast rose to two.

On October 7, a massive explosion took place at Indian Oil petrol pump near the Governor House here leaving many persons injured. While one person had succumbed to injuried while undergoing treatment, human flesh pieces of Seemanchal Parida were collected from the spot .
