Bhubaneswar: Fire breaks out at government quarters after firecrackers explosion

Bhubaneswar: Fire broke out at a government quarters in Unit-II area of Odisha capital, this morning. The mishap was triggered by a powerful explosion of firecrackers stored in a room.

According to reports, the quarters has been allotted to Niranjan Lenka, an employee of Lok Seva Bhawan here. However, illegal manufacturing of firecrackers was allegedly being carried out at the quarters.

It remains unclear whether the designated occupant was residing there at the time of the incident or if the premises had been rented out to someone else.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported thus far. However, the government quarters sustained extensive damage due to the inferno, causing significant losses.

On being informed, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames. Their prompt action contained the flames before they could spread to neighboring buildings, averting further calamity.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident to ascertain the cause of the fire and hold those responsible for the illegal manufacture of firecrackers accountable.
