Bhubaneswar: Man held for firing with gun of wife who is a shooting player

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police today arrested a man for allegedly resorting to blank firing at CRP Square in Odisha capital.

The accused, identified as Vinay Acharya, had used a gun of his wife Sthitapragyan Ray, who is a shooting player, for the blank firing last evening, police sources said.

The Nayapalli police will produce him before a local court. The gun and five rounds of bullets have been seized from the possession of Acharya.

Police will write to the concerned authorities for cancellation of the license of the gun in the name of his wife.

According to reports, Acharya committed the offence near a food stall at CRP Square at around 6.30 PM. Some of his associates were present with him during the incident.

Panic gripped locals as they fled the spot apprehending danger. Acharya and his associates remained there for around 10 minutes before fleeing the place.
