Bhubaneswar: Odisha capital reeled under intense heat wave conditions today as the city recorded a maximum temperature of 40.8°C.

This was the highest recorded temperature in Bhubaneswar so far this year as the previous one was 40.2°C on April 18.

Other places where mercury crossed the 40°C mark in Odisha today were Paralakhemundi and Boudh, where maximum temperature stood at 41°C.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre here forecasted that day temperature is likely to soar by 3-5°C across Odisha from tomorrow.

It has also issued thunderstorm warning for several districts of the state for tomorrow.

"Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak tomorrow," the Meteorological Centre predicted.
