Bhubaneswar reports highest one-day spike in COVID-19 cases; tally at 525

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar reported 46 fresh cases of COVID-19, the highest single-day spike, in last 24 hours, official source said.

Of new cases, 24 positive cases are local contacts and 22 have been detected from quarantine centres, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today.

With this, the tally of COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar rose to 525 with 222 active cases.

Meanwhile, 18 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the deadly virus yesterday, BMC said.

Following fresh recoveries, the number of cured cases in the city now stands at 295. Today, one COVID-19 death case was reported from the State capital taking total count of deceased to 7.

Further contact tracing is still continuing. Primary contacts and nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised and will be under active surveillance, the BMC tweeted.
