Bhubaneswar reports highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases; here’re details

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar reported 45 fresh COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day spike, out of 50 new confirmed cases detected from Khordha district in last 24 hours.

Of fresh cases in Bhubaneswar, 37 have been detected in quarantine centres and remaining 8 are local contacts, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today.

Meanwhile, 31 COVID-19 patients have recovered in past 24 hours in the State capital.

With this, the COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar rose to 414  with 160 active cases. The recovered cases in the city increased to 247.

Two new deaths due to COVID-19 were reported from Bhubaneswar today taking the toll to 6 in the city so far.

All the infected persons have been sent to the COVID hospitals for treatment, the BMC said.

Further contact tracing is underway. The primary contacts and nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised and will be under active surveillance, the BMC tweeted.
