Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance today arrested Mamata Bastia, ASI of Saheed Nagar police station here, for allegedly taking bribe from a woman.

According to reports, Bastia demanded and received Rs 15,000 from a woman complainant to help her in a case, of which the accused was an Investigating Officer.

Sleuths of the anti-corruption agency caught the ASI red-handed while she was taking the money and apprehended her.

The entire bribe money has been recovered from her possession and seized.

Following the arrest, simultaneous house searches were carried out at two locations related to the ASI.

The Vigilance has registered a case in this connection while further probe was underway.
