Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today launched Team SHINE (Sanitation & Hygiene Inspection for Neat Environment) with an aim of promoting cleanliness in the capital city.

The launch of this initiative took place during a special event in the presence of Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das and BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange.

Team SHINE will comprise 10 enforcement squads, each consisting of five members, tasked with conducting inspection rounds across the city to deter the unlawful disposal of waste. In its initial phase, these teams will focus on raising awareness about maintaining a clean environment. Strict measures will be taken against the violators.

"The primary objective behind establishing the SHINE team is to create a clean environment in Bhubaneswar. A pristine environment contributes significantly to the city's allure. Initially, the team will work to instill a culture of cleanliness among residents through awareness initiatives. Subsequently, stringent actions will be initiated against those who violate these norms. Violators may face fines of up to Rs 10,000," said Kulange.
