Bid to loot cash from ATM fails in Odisha

The robbers are striking at isolated and unmanned ATM counters in Odisha at will. However, the failed to succeed in this plans in their latest bid here last night.

According to reports, unidentified robbers targeted the SBI ATM along NH 16 at Haladipadar on the outskirts of the city. The miscreants have caused severe damage to the machines in their attempt to steal cash. The equipment have been dismantled with sharp cutters. However, they have failed to decamp with cash, much to the relief of the bank and police personnel.

Early morning, people visiting the counter discovered the loot attempt and informed the local police. Sadar police personnel reached the spot and began inquiry into the matter.

“Scientific team experts have collected the finger prints as well as CCTV footage. We are investigating into the matter. We hope to get breakthrough soon,” Berhampur Sadar SDPO, Ashok Mohanty said.

Police suspect that the incident took place late yesterday night.

The robbers have failed to make off with cash, police said quoting the bank officials after preliminary inquiry.
