Big B turns 77; Here’s the Odia movie that features Bollywood ‘Shahenshah’

Bhubanewswar: With sea of wishes pouring in for Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan on his birthday, most of his fans might not be aware of the fact that he is not a stranger to Ollywood.

Yes, the ‘Shahenshah’ of Hindi film industry had acted in an Odia film titled ‘Mukta’, which could be termed as his ‘incomplete’ project in 70s.

According to reports, Bachchan along with his contemporary stars Shatrughan Sinha, Rekha and Jayashree T had signed film ‘Mukta’ to have a guest appearance.

Out of 10-day shooting schedule, the superstar spent seven days for the movie in Kolkata. However, all his efforts for the flick went in vain as the film, which also stars Sarat Pujari, Babi, Dukhiram, Netrananda, Biren Routray, Bijay Mohanty and Asim Basu, could not be released.

Sources said that Big B was flooded with offers with his ‘angry young man’ image after release of Bollywood blockbuster ‘Zanjeer’ in 1973. As his schedule was tight following the biggest success, he had no time for Odia film ‘Mukta’ to complete remaining shots.

‘Mukta’ directed by AK Films Unit was based on ‘Oliver Twist’ by British novelist Charles Dickens.
