Biggest SPIKE!! 248 new COVID-19 cases in Bhubaneswar; Here’re details

Bhubaneswar: Of the biggest ever single-day spike of over 1594 COVID-19 cases in Odisha, 248 positive cases have been detected in the State capital in the last 24 hours.

Out of 248 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, 207 have been detected from quarantine centres and 41 are the local contacts, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today.

Once again, the slums in Bhubaneswar have become a major concern for the authorities as 45 positive cases have been detected from a slum at BJB Nagar and 20 positive cases have been found in a slum in Nayapalli area.

As per the details shared by BMC, all the cases in two slums have link with earlier positive cases.

It seems like healthcare institutions in Bhubaneswar are no more safe zone as 27 female employees of a private hospital linked with an earlier positive case have been infected with the COVID-19.

With the fresh cases, the tally in Bhubaneswar rose to 1717 with 870 active cases and 834 recoveries. The deadly virus has claimed 11 lives so far in the city.
