Harichandanpur police in Odisha’s Keonjhar district have seized 52 stolen motorbikes and have arrested five persons of a bike-lifting gang involved in the thefts in the last one week.

Following the frequent theft of motorbikes in Harichandanpur area in the last five weeks and complaints thereof Harichandanpur police formed a special team to investigate the sudden surge in bike thefts. Police first arrested the mastermind of the racket Subash Prusty and after his interrogation subsequently arrested the other four.

While 50 of the stolen bikes have been seized from Harichandanpur area, other two have been seized from Ghatagaon.

The gang used to change the engine and chassis numbers of the bikes after stealing them.
