Bike theft racket busted in Odisha capital; five arrested

Bhubaneswar, Mar 25:

Twin City Commissionerate police have busted a bike theft racket and arrested five members of the gang including two juveniles, police said today.

Police have seized 11 bikes and six mobile phones from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Manas Kumar Samantray (28),  SK Islam (18), Biswaranjan Sharma (19) and two juveniles – Sagar and Manu (name changed).

One of the juveniles is an engineering student.

According to police, they were involved in a series of motorcycle theft and mobile phone snatching cases.

The gang was active in Ghatikia, Dumuduma and ITER area under Khandagiri police limits.

Later in the day, three accused were forwarded to court and juveniles were produced before Juvenile court, informed a police official.

Further investigations were on by Khandagiri police to trace other members of the racket.
