Bhubaneswar: Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) with active support of Ministry of External Affairs is going to organize BIMSTEC Business Conclave & Expo-2023 at Kolkata from June 13, informed INWEC at a press conference held here on Friday.

The three-day event will be organized to commemorate the 25-year journey of BIMSTEC.

“We are really feeling proud that it will be our first international event and a 12-member team is leaving for Kolkata tonight. We are aiming at forging ties with different sectors. We will scout for opportunities in which our women entrepreneurs can be benefitted so that their products and services can be marketed in various countries,” expressed Sukirti Patnaik, National Chairperson of INWEC.

A 12-member delegation of women entrepreneurs from Odisha will be a part in the event where seven BIMSTEC member countries – Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand – apart from host India will be participating in the international conclave.

“This is a great opportunity for women entrepreneurs as they will get to meet people from various countries from diverse fields. This will certainly open multiple windows of opportunities to tap business potential in overseas markets,” said Tanaya Patnaik, INWEC convenor.

BIMSTEC, a part of India’s ocean policy and Indo Pacific strategies, will host sessions to discuss priorities, opportunities and challenges in the field of education, tourism, trade, healthcare, transport, agriculture, finance, handicraft and handloom, startup, climate change, and scope for women entrepreneurs will be discussed during the meet.

Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh Electrical Association, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, India-Thai Chamber of Commerce, India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs Association, Myanmar Pulses, Beans, Maize and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association, Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce are the key bodies who will be participating in the event at Hyatt Regency.
