Khordha: The annual bird census began in Odisha’s Chilika lake, this morning.
As many as 21 teams comprising more than 100 members have been formed for carrying out the counting of birds in the largest brackish water lagoon of Asia.
The teams are equipped with binoculars, GPS devices, cameras and walkie-talkie for counting domestic and migratory birds.
The census is being done in five ranges of the Chilika Wildlife Division– Rambha, Satapada, Balugaon, Tangi and Nuapada.
It will continue till 12 noon.
