Three days after Khordha district administration started culling operation of poultry in Keranga village to stop spreading of bird flu virus, at least 10 crows were found dead at Salia Sahi area in the capital city of Odisha today.
According to reports, residents of Salia Sahi and nearby areas spotted carcasses of 10 crows at Nilachakranagar vegetable market this morning.
The news spread in no time and panic griped the area as locals suspected bird flu to be the reason behind the unnatural deaths of the crows.
A team of veterinary doctors reached the spot and collected samples which were sent to Bhopal laboratory. The exact reason behind the deaths will come to fore after arrival of report.
Meanwhile, Animal Resources Development Department Secretary Bishnupada Sethi said, "Chickens have not been affected with bird flu virus in Rourkela. Only a bird at IG park and a crow at Panposh died due to bird flu."
"Preliminary investigation revealed that crows died of cold in Keonjhar and chickens died due to Ranikhet in Bhadrak," he said.
