Bishnu Das in a soup in false affidavit case

The Jagatsinghpur sub-collector has advised penal action against Jagatsinghpur BJD MLA Bishnu Das in the false affidavit case. The sub-collector’ issued the advisory on Friday.

It may be recalled here that in 2013, Jagatsinghpur block Congress president Laxmi Narayan Samantray had filed an FIR against MLA Das for concealing information about his landed property while filing the property affidavit during the assembly elections in 2009.

The recommendation could not have come at a worse time for the former minister. With ticket distribution for the second phase elections due in the next couple of days, the revelation about his false affidavit is bound to affect his chances of being renominated.

Das, it may be noted, had to leave his ministerial post in ignominy in the wake of revelations about manipulation of the marks of his son in the high school examination, an area which came directly under his charge as the minister for school and mass education.
