Baripada: In a highly bizarre incident, two drunk men reportedly ate the flesh of a dead girl at a cremation ground near Bandhasahi village under Badasahi police limits in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday.

Police detained the two persons, identified as Sundar Mohan Singh (58) and Narendra Singh (25) of Dantuni village, for questioning in this connection.

According to reports, cremation of the 25-year-old girl was underway at the ground, when the duo took away some portion of the half-burnt body. Later, they started eating it.

Being furious over the matter, the kin of the deceased detained the two and handed them over to police.

"The two accused have been detained. They committed the act in an inebriated state. Sundar Mohan Singh, one of the accused, is a sorcerer. He did so under the influence of liquor and confessed to his actions. Investigation is underway," said Sanjay Kumar Parida, IIC, Badasahi police station.
