Kendrapara: Both Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have intensified the poll campaign for the Patkura Assembly seat pulling huge crowd everyday at various public meetings.
Many heavyweights including the star campaigners of both the political parties took part in the campaign to woo the voters.
Today, Union Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will visit Patkura to campaign for the BJP candidate Bijoy Mohapatra. He is scheduled to attend the rallies and public meetings at 20 places in Patkura under Kendrapara Lok Sabha Constituency.
Yesterday, the saffron party leaders including Jual Oram and Baijayanta Panda had campaigned in Patkura for Mohapatra. Former bureaucrat Aparajita Sarangi has also entered the Patkura campaign for the BJP’s nominee with her previous poll experience after stunning victory in Lok Sabha elections.
Meanwhile, BJD has geared up its poll campaign to win the ‘prestige battle’. The leaders including Anubhav Mohanty, Samir Ranjan Dash, Atanu Sabyasachi and Ranendra Pratap Swain have entered on the ground with rigorous campaign for the party candidate Sabitri Agarwalla, the wife of former Patkura MLA late Bed Prakash Agarwalla.
On the other hand, Congress began its campaign for the Patkura poll yesterday. The state Congress chief Niranjan Patnaik and senior party leader Narasingha Mishra visited the poll-bound Assembly Constituency for the party candidate Jayanta Kumar Mohanty.
