BJD govt is against Sanatan culture: Odisha BJP

Bhubaneswar: Views of Puri Govardhan Peeth seer and Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati are not being taken relating to the management of Jagannath temple and performance of Nitikanti (daily rituals) of the presiding deities, alleged senior BJP leader Samir Mohanty today.

Mohanty expressed his dissatisfaction and termed the BJD government as anti-Sanatan.

“Odisha Government, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), and the Managing Committee have been ignoring the religious leader, which means that they are opposed to Sanatan Dharma and Jagannath cult as well. Since ancient days, the Madala Panji has mentioned that all rituals of the Holy Trinity should be performed under the advice of the Govardhan Peeth seer. The apex court had earlier supported this standpoint and decreed in its favour,” the BJP leader stated.

“Swamiji not being consulted is something ridiculous and worrisome,” the BJP leader said.

“Both the Gajapati Maharaj and Shankaracharya are part and parcel of the 12th Century Vaishnavite shrine. Shankaracharya has recently expressed his resentment as he is being ignored. This act of the Government has hurt the sentiments of 4.5 crore people of Odisha,” Mohanty expressed.
