BJD leader suspended for indecent proposal to woman colleague

Bhubaneswar: Days after BJD MLA from Paradeep Sambit Routray was accused of misbehaving with a women wing activist of BJP, another leader of the ruling party in Odisha landed in trouble for his indecent proposal to a woman colleague.

Garadpur block BJD president Sashank Sekhar Parida has been suspended from the party for making indecent proposal to a woman colleague, sources said.

Parida was suspended from BJD by party’s Kendrapara district president, sources added. The ruling party initiated disciplinary action against Parida after an audio recording of the incident went viral on social media.

Parida allegedly made the indecent proposal to a BJD women wing leader of Garadpur block over phone a few days ago. He also made certain lewd comments on the physicality of the woman leader, it is alleged.

The woman leader further alleged that Parida has been showing indecent gestures towards her for the last several days. Parida allegedly threatened the woman leader not to reveal the incident to anyone.

The victim raised the issue with Patkura BJD MLA Sabitri Agrawal’s son Sanjay Agrawal but no action was taken against Parida, sources said.

The woman leader had lodged a complaint in this regard with Kendrapara Town police.
