BJD members out of sync, says Odisha MP Tathagata Satpathy

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, May 20:

Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and Lok Sabha MP Tathagata Satpathy today gave enough fodder to Opposition parties to corner it over chinks in the party, on the sidelines of a programme in Odisha capital on the eve of completion of three years in the fourth term of the party in power.

The Dhenkanal MP almost detailed BJD’s shortcomings at the party forum today.

“There is lack of coordination between MLAs, MPs and ministers. The workers, MLAs and MPs are getting divided into groups as a result of which it is leading to personal loss. We are getting egoistic. If we don’t realize where we are then death is inevitable. We will be finished. If we don’t take an open and clear stance against BJP and behave like eghara mausi seghara piusi, then people would think why they wouldn’t send the message directly to postmaster rather through postman. We won’t go for pre-poll alliance or post-poll alliance. It should come from the topmost leadership,” Dhenkanal MP Tathagata Satpathy said.

The four-time parliamentarian often hogged the headlines for his straight-talks on party affairs at various fora.

Satpathy spoke his mind during party’s brainstorming session ahead of BJD’s completion of three years in the fourth term in power in the state.

However, he left the podium in a dash abruptly after Baramba MLA Debi Prasad Mishra whispered something in his ears.

During the programme, various senior leaders put their views on people-connect initiatives and discussed on the fulfillment of promises made in poll manifesto.

“Today we had a party meeting to discuss the progress in the manifesto achievements. We are starting a programme called Ama Gaon Ama Vikash in which party functionaries will touch all gram panchayats of the state. We are also inviting young volunteers to work for the party as Biju Sathi,” BJD President Naveen Patnaik said.

Patnaik further said that the party leaders would undertake district visits from May 24 to June 30 so as to make people aware of government’s successful programmes. Besides, the rural-connect programme “Ama Gaon Ama Vikash” will be launched from July 1, he added.
