BJD MLA seeks age hike for Govt jobs in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Expressing concern over rising number of unemployed youth in Odisha, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) legislator Soumya Ranjan Patnaik sought hike in upper age limit for government jobs.

Raising the issue in Assembly on Tuesday, the Khandapada MLA urged the government to increase the upper age limit for government jobs to 42 years on par with states like Telangana, Andhara Pradesh, Goa and Uttarakhand.

Patnaik said that the enhancing the age bar will benefit a large number of unemployed youth to apply for the government jobs.

Also, the number of posts lying vacant in various departments can also be filled due to increase in upper age limit for government jobs in Odisha, he added.
