Sundargarh: Prafulla Majhi, former MLA from Talsara Assembly segment of Sundargarh, was suspended today by the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) from primary membership for his anti-party activities. The suspension order will have immediate effect, a BJD press release issued in this regard mentioned.
Majhi was the state senior general secretary of BJD before he was slapped a suspension order.
The three-time legislator from Talsara previously joined the BJD along with his ardent supporters.
Majhi had first won a bypoll from Talsara on a Congress ticket in 2006. Subsequently, he won from the same seat in 2009 and 2014 Assembly elections as a Congress candidate.
The former MLA earlier quit Congress on December 6, 2021 and had joined BJD on December 10.
It is pertinent to mention here that Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) had removed Majhi from the party for indiscipline and anti-party activities.
The ex-MLA had debuted in electoral politics after the demise of his wife’s uncle Gajadhar Majhi, who was a popular Congress leader from Talsara and a minister too.
