BJD to raise a host of issues during Parliament’s winter session

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today announced its decision to demand exemption of income tax from District Mineral Fund, heritage festival tag to Cuttack Bali Jatra and sanction of pending amount under the Awas scheme to Odisha during winter session of the Parliament.

Addressing mediapersons, BJD National Spokesperson Sasmit Patra said the party will also raise its objection to the Centre’s move to exclude Odisha tourism spots from the list of Iconic Tourist Sites. CBSE’s examination fee hike and Polavaram project will also be raked up by the party, he added.

Earlier in the day, an all-party meeting chaired by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi was held in the premises of the Parliament. Representatives of different political parties were present in the meeting to discuss ways for smooth functioning of the proceedings.

At the all-party meeting, BJD MP Pinaki Misra demanded the Centre to table the bill on formation of Legislative Council in Odisha during the winter session.

In September 2018, the Odisha Assembly had passed a resolution for establishment of Legislative Council.

The Parliament’s winter session will begin from tomorrow and continue till December 31.
