BJD worker, his family allegedly attacked by Congress workers in Odisha’s Bolangir

Bolangir: A worker of BJD identified as Bibhuti Patel was allegedly attacked today by some workers of Congress at Mayabarha village under Sadar police limits in Bolangir district. Bibhuti’s family members also were not spared by the opponent party workers and were severely attacked ahead of polls.

According to a source, Bibhuti was threatened by some Congress workers in the evening. The victim man remained silent keeping in mind the upcoming poll on May 20 (tomorrow). Later, a man identified as Bharat Rout from the same village along with his family members came to Bibhuti’s house and attacked the latter and his family. The victim’s wife Manisha and his father Jagannath Patel, including Ramnath Patel, Madhu Patel, Bibeka Patel, and Surekha Patel were injured in the incident.

Bibhuti is a worker of the ruling BJD and Bharat is a worker of the Congress party, the source added.

The injured were rescued and admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

On being informed, Sadar police have detained Bharat and initiated a detailed probe.
