Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced its candidate for the remaining one seat for Odisha Assembly Elections 2024.

The party fielded Santosh Khatua as its candidate for Nilagiri Assembly segment under Balasore Lok Sabha Constituency in Balasore district.

Khatua has been projected against BJD's Sukanta Nayak, who is the sitting MLA in Nilagiri and joined the regional party after resigning from the BJP on March 31, for Nilagiri seat in the ensuing elections. He had fought the assembly election on a BJD ticket in 2019 and lost to BJP candidate with a margin of 1,577 votes.

Yesterday, the saffron party had released its 5th list of candidates for six Assembly seats that will go to polls in 4 phases.
